Kostenski waterfall

Make a short waterfall stop without promising a mountain circuit. Kostenets Waterfall is on the Chavcha at Vili Kostenets, near Kostenets village. It is a different destination from the town centre. The municipality describes a signed attraction with nearby parking and places to eat, making it a possible first stop rather than a complete Rila hike.

Expect the water to change with the season. The municipal account describes stronger spring flow, reduced summer water and freezing in cold weather. A photograph taken after snowmelt is not a promise for a dry-season visit. Enjoy the fall from the permitted viewing area rather than climbing onto wet rock for a closer angle.

Keep the time allowance honest. An editorial estimate of 20–40 minutes suits the waterfall stop, excluding travel or an extended walk. Follow current access signs and allow for slippery or icy ground. No step-free route or supervised swimming area has been verified here.

Plan the longer route separately. The municipality's 2025 report describes a route linking the waterfall, Gurgulitsa Hut and Skalovitets Waterfall.
