Editorial standards

Our standard is useful, clearly sourced visitor information. These principles explain what a guide’s checked date means, what remains uncertain and how to report a correction.

Sources and practical facts

For opening hours, tickets, access rules and transport notices in a guide, we look first to the venue, museum, municipality, park authority or transport operator that publishes the information. Links let readers check the context themselves.

When sources disagree or a timetable is undated, a guide should explain the uncertainty. We do not treat an old photograph, an unsourced listing or a converted historic price as confirmation of today’s conditions.

Checked dates are specific, not blanket guarantees

A guide’s “Sources checked” date refers to the source review for that guide. It is not the date of a personal visit and does not certify every field on the linked catalogue page. A change to a layout or photograph does not by itself justify a new source-check date.

Some catalogue entries do not yet carry a verification date. Confirm their practical details directly with the venue. A historical description can remain useful while a ticket price or bus service has changed.

Research, experience and AI-assisted tools

Our current guides are desk-researched. Suggested routes, visit durations and choices between attractions are editorial planning judgments, not official schedules or claims that we personally followed the route.

AI-assisted tools are used for parts of the research, drafting, translation and website development. Generated wording is not a source and does not establish that a fact is correct. The linked source, its date and any stated uncertainty matter more than confident phrasing.

We do not invent visits, qualifications, contributor identities or endorsements. A future first-hand contribution should identify what was actually observed and when, separately from information taken from other sources.

Photographs and reuse

Photographs carry the available photographer and licence information wherever they are displayed. Guide captions describe the selected image; they do not imply that it was taken by the project or recently.

Lead and card images may be resized and cropped for display; inline guide images retain the full composition. Credit and source links are retained where supplied. Follow the stated licence before reusing a photograph—publication here does not make every image free of restrictions.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some place pages contain affiliate links. We may receive a commission after an eligible purchase, without an additional charge to you. A travel booking link is not an official ticket office or a guarantee that a particular tour is suitable.

Advertising and sponsored placements are labelled when shown. Their presence is separate from the visitor information and is not evidence of official endorsement by a venue or the national programme.

Corrections and contributions

Send the page URL, the disputed detail, and a current official source or the date and context of your observation. Conflicting reports need checking; a submitted suggestion is not automatically published as fact.

For an urgent access or safety question, contact the venue or responsible authority directly. The project contact channel is not an emergency service or a booking service.
