About 100 Places Bulgaria

100 Places Bulgaria is a community project for people who want to explore the country’s cultural, historical and natural landmarks, one visit at a time.

A useful starting point for a real visit

We bring together a searchable place catalogue, maps, photographs and bilingual visitor guides. The aim is to help you choose where to go, understand what you are looking at and turn a list of landmarks into a manageable day.

The companion mobile app lets you record visits and collect digital stamps. The website is also useful on its own: you can browse places and read the guides without downloading the app.

The catalogue and the national programme

The catalogue groups landmarks by the numbered destinations of the Bulgarian Tourist Union’s “100 National Tourist Sites” programme. One destination may include several sites, and the catalogue also distinguishes additional places; 100 numbered destinations does not mean only 100 individual buildings or attractions.

Our visitor guides and suggested timings are editorial content, not the programme’s official rules. For participation requirements, booklets, stamp validation and awards, consult the Bulgarian Tourist Union directly.

How to read our information

The guides are desk-researched plans with linked sources, not first-hand trip reports. Their route choices and time allowances are suggestions. Photographs illustrate the places and are credited; an image is not evidence of current opening hours or access.

Catalogue information and guide information can have different verification dates. Where a practical detail has no checked date, confirm it with the venue before travelling. Hours, ticket prices, transport and seasonal access can change.

Help keep the project useful

A correction is most useful when it identifies the page, the information that is wrong and a reliable source or dated observation. You can also send suggestions for clearer explanations or practical questions a guide has not answered.

If you offer a photograph or personal account, tell us what you created and what permission you can give. Please do not send someone else’s work as your own or include unnecessary personal information.
