Municipal Historical Museum

The Tsarevo historical museum is the biggest museum south of Burgas city. It opened its doors on June 12th 2012 and it functions as a cultural institution, which aims at preserving and popularizing the coastal Strandzha heritage.

On display at the museum are archeological artifacts, dating as far back as three thousand years, as well as the Sinemorets village treasure.

The silver coin treasure found in September of 2012 consists of 199 tetradrachms. Among these are some extremely rare coins belonging to the Thracian king Mostis.

Until 1991 only 11 such coins were known to science and were kept in numismatic collections in Paris, New York, and the State Hermitage Museum. In our museum there are 36 coins of this type.

The golden treasure – ornaments of a prominent Thracian woman, is a masterpiece of the Hellenistic jewelry art dating 300 B.C.

Soon there will be an ethnographic department with a focus on the Nestinar rituals. It has been entered into the UNESCO representative list as a non-material world cultural heritage. The museum hosts traveling exhibits as well as private exhibits.
