Sandanski's Archaeological Museum offers something a cabinet of finds cannot: an ancient building preserved where it stood. The museum's exhibition overview places early Christian basilica remains and mosaics on the first level, with a collection covering other periods upstairs. It is a useful stop for understanding the ancient town beneath modern Sandanski, rather than just looking for a famous isolated object.

Ask what each tells you about the people who commissioned it, and distinguish a stone's original setting from its present museum display.
