Historical Site Oborishte

Oborishte near Panagyurishte is the wooded historical setting of the assembly connected with preparations for the April Uprising of 1876. The museum's monument account distinguishes that event from the later memorial, which it dates to 1928. Visit to understand the relationship between a gathering place and its commemoration, not to find an indoor parliamentary exhibition at the monument.

Read the names as remembrance. Our suggested focus is the monument's inscriptions and the decision they recall. Ask a museum guide how the participant list was assembled rather than assuming that an inscription settles every historical question about attendance. Avoid conflating the revolutionary gathering with the later state parliament. A forest setting explains part of the choice of meeting place, but it is not proof that all present-day paths existed then.
