Historical Museum

Start with the town's working life. Karlovo's History Museum offers more than another biographical stop on a Levski itinerary. Its archaeology and craft displays connect the town with the wider Stryama valley. Look for the relationship between local livelihoods, education and the changes of the National Revival, rather than reading the collection as a list of famous names.

Let the school building frame the visit. The main exhibition occupies the former boys' school at 4 Vazrozhdenska Street. The museum's introduction explains the building's place in Karlovo's history. This is not the Levski birth-house museum or a ticket desk for every restored house in Ancient Karlovo; choose the institution and address deliberately.
