Golyam Perelik is the Rhodopes' 2,191-metre high point, but its summit is not a public hiking destination. Smolyan's tourism information explicitly says the summit is a military site with prohibited access. Plan an outing in the surrounding mountain landscape, not a visit inside that restricted area.

The same account identifies lower Malak Perelik as a nearby alternative and Perelik Hut as a local base.
