Fotinski waterfalls

Fotinski waterfalls suit a visitor who wants a river walk ending at a cascade, rather than a roadside photo stop. The Ministry of Tourism profile identifies three falls near Fotinovo in the Batak and Peshtera area, with the largest around sixteen metres. Look at how the river crosses the rock steps; seeing every fall is not worth an unsafe approach.

Start your planning with the correct Fotinovo village and ask locally about the present path and access to the viewpoints. The ministry describes the waterfall as difficult to reach and gives roughly an hour's approach. That does not establish the condition of bridges, railings or markings today, nor a route suitable for pushchairs or anyone who must avoid steep ground.

Allow 2–3 hours as an editorial estimate for walking out and back with viewing stops, excluding the drive. Carry water, suitable footwear and a route plan. Do not use the sound of falling water as your only guide through the terrain. Turn back where wet rock, damaged infrastructure or poor visibility makes the next section doubtful.
