Fotinski waterfalls

Fotinovo

Fotinski waterfalls is a group of three falls situated on the eponymous river in the area of Fotinovo village. They were formed in the big rock massif, which was eroded by water for hundreds of thousands of years. The highest one amazes the visitor with its 16 meters height. There is a lot of water in the river throughout the year, but the waterfalls are especially attractive during the spring, when the snow starts to melt.

Hiking to the Fotinski waterfalls is easy for the most part, but takes some time. The route starts at Fotinovo village and leads toward Fotinska river. At the end of the village it passes near an old roman bridge. The dirt road continues on the left shore of the river and then crosses it on a small wooden bridge, leading to a large gazebo with a water fountain. From here the track follows the right shore of the river, as the road slowly climbs along the river bed. After 40 minutes one reaches a wide clearing to the left of the dirt road. Here starts the descend towards to river and the waterfalls. The steep trail leads to the river in about 10 minutes. There are green tourist markings, but they cannot be depended upon as they are missing in several places, especially in the beginning of the route. The whole hike from the village takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
